What is Neuropsychological Testing?

Neuropsychological evaluation is a structured assessment of thinking skills including memory, attention, language, information processing,, motor, visuospatial/construction, and executive function. The assessment is conducted with various tests and measures of cognitive function, mood and behavioral.

What happens during the evaluation?

You will be asked questions about your background, health history and mood.
You will be asked to perform tasks that require you to listen and remember information, answer questions out loud, complete puzzles, read, write, and complete questionnaires.


What cognitive functions are tested?


How long does it take?

The time to complete testing depends on the reason for the assessment.
Brief testing can range from 2 - 6hrs.
Some cases require a “comprehensive” battery that can take between 8 - 10hrs.


How do I find out the result?

Depending on the reason for the referral, the result of the testing is provided in a report that is provided to the doctor who referred you.
A feedback session may be scheduled by phone, in writing or in-person to summarize the results and recommendations.
